"I have drawn for as long as I can remember. you will find that most Artists will say this. But it is true. its a permanent presence in your life. The earliest memory I have is of my Dad drawing a boat on a newspaper he was reading and then challenging me to draw it better. My mum would bring packs of printing paper home from work and I would spend the days doodling and scribbling away."
Through school, Art was my Home. Even in sixth form, the Art department had a toilet that was never used, and I turned into a makeshift studio!
I went to Wigan & Leigh Art College for a year and then studied at UCLAN for my degree in Illustration. The tutors I had there were next level! Steve Wilkin and (briefly) Danny Allison made a lasting impression on me.
I travelled, I worked and I lived. But that Art 'presence' never left. I entered a couple of Art competitions, I won the drawing Category at the St Helens Open in 2016 (I think) but other than that i thought about Art rather than made it.
And then there is Now. At the start of 2023 i made the choice to drop hours in work and re-focus on my Art Journey. And it has been incredible. I am making the Art that I used to daydream about. I draw the things or people that interest me. I have developed a style that I love and that is Unique to me.
The thing I love about my Art is that most of the time I feel like I dont have a clue what I am doing. Because each piece is a journey in itself. Yes I have a process, a way I approach my work. But find me an Artist that doesn't meet speed bumps along the way.
